Responsible for Inclusion and Sustaining Excellence (R.I.S.E.) is a seven-month program open to TCU staff and faculty committed to inclusive excellence.

About the Program

The TCU R.I.S.E. Certificate Program is hosted in partnership between TCU Human Resources and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The TCU R.I.S.E. Certificate is designed to provide participants tolls and learning opportunities to advance personal and professional development in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Selected participants will be challenged to:

  • Improve their intercultural development through personal assessment
  • Strengthen skills in advocacy and social change activism
  • Develop strategies to interrupt structural and systemic issues of power, privilege and oppression.

Graduates of the TCU R.I.S.E Certificate program will be empowered to move concepts into concrete action.

Applications to R.I.S.E. are due by September 3, 2021. Those accepted into the program will be notified by September 17.

Session Dates for R.I.S.E. Participants

All session will take place from 9 a.m. – noon. Participants must attend all sessions to receive the TCU R.I.S.E. Certificate. Full session descriptions available at https://inclusion.tcu.edu/programs/rise.

  • Session 1 — Expanding Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Awareness – October 8 
  • Session 2 – Developing & Demonstrating Intercultural Competence – November 5 
  • Session 3 — Understanding Social Justice & Systems of Oppression – December 3 
  • Session 4 — Interrupting the “isms” – February 11 
  • Session 5 — Agency & Action: becoming an Agent of Change – March 4 
  • Session 6 — Utilizing an Inclusive Excellence Framework – May 13  
  • Closing Celebration
